Join JAZZ on Friday 17 July for our beloved Gypsy JAZZ concert, bringing the 1930s gypsy jazz vibe of Paris to the historic city center of The Hague.
You will love the energetic, joyful and fast swinging tunes of gypsy jazz, which will be brought to you by the brilliant Hot Club of guitar players Jaïr Stunt and Tessa Spaaij. Do not hesitate to buy a ticket! Gypsy jazz emerged in the 1930s in Paris within the Sinti communities. It’s a melting pot of French musette, American swing and gypsy music - and the first jazz style to emerge in Europe. Gypsy jazz is inspired by the famous Sinti jazz guitarist Jean “Django” Reinhardt. Reinhardt was a virtuoso player on the acoustic guitar. Together with the French jazz violinist Stéphane Grappelli, Reinhardt formed their group the Quintette du Hot Club de France.
