REPRISE Women in JAZZ Tribute Concert with B.Sallons - JAZZ Den Haag
Dit concert heeft al plaatsgevonden.
We are super excited to welcome back the sensational jazz vocalist and percussionist B.Sallons for a reprise of our beloved Women in JAZZ Tribute Concert on Friday 6 March.
During this unique live jazz concert, B.Sallons will honor three remarkable jazz icons: Abbey Lincoln, Nina Simone and Miriam Makeba. Through their music and activism, these women redefined jazz and gave voice to freedom, love and resistance. ✨Abbey Lincoln was an American jazz vocalist, songwriter, actress and activist whose music carried the influence of Billie Holiday. With a voice full of strength and tenderness, she sang not only of love but also of injustice, giving jazz a powerful social conscience. Her lyrics told the stories of life, struggle, and self-discovery, and she stood alongside the greatest jazz musicians of her time while always speaking her own truth. ✨Nina Simone, known as the High Priestess of Soul, was a pianist, composer, and singer whose music defied boundaries—classical, gospel, blues, jazz, folk and pop all found a place in her work. Fierce and fearless, she used her art as a call to action, creating anthems of empowerment and liberation during the civil rights movement. Nina’s music remains a spellbinding testimony to passion, resistance and love. ✨Miriam Makeba, the Grammy-winning singer from South Africa, was the first African artist to bring African music to global stages in the 1960s. With her crystalline voice, she blended Afropop, jazz, and world music, captivating audiences worldwide. But she was also a fearless advocate against apartheid, using her fame to fight for justice and dignity for her people. Together, Abbey, Nina and Miriam showed the world that music can be both beauty and resistance, memory and hope. Their voices still remind us that a song can change the world. Do not miss this unique reprise of Women in JAZZ Tribute on Friday 6 March and book a ticket. Food and drinks are served all evening. Looking forward to welcoming you at JAZZ!
