The project pays homage to the Afro-Cuban Jazz interpreting modern arrangements of composers/arrangers such as Jerry Gonzales, Michel Camilo, Hilario Duran. Generally the band embrances the sonorities of the Modern Afro-Cuban Jazz, inspired by bands such as Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez’s Italuba Quartet. The sound of the band is characterized by the traditional Afro-Cuban rhythms mixed with jazz melodies and harmonies enriched by unexpected moments of interaction between the members of the band. Especially for this concert the band will perform original tunes by the Basque trombonist Iker Figueroa Arkotxa and a couple of Ralph Irizarry & Timbalaye’s masterpieces.
